The EwA Buggy Insect-Plant Explorer presents arthropod–plant associations as an interactive network. Developed through a collaboration between Hansen Zheng (EwA Analytics Volunteer) and Claire O’Neill (EwA Biodiversity and Climate Participatory Science Program Director), it offers a concise view of interaction patterns, observation frequency, and field-record structure.
The visualizer is built on EwA Buggy, Earthwise Aware’s field documentation system for recording arthropod–plant associations, including host plant use, activity, abundance, and developmental stage. Its purpose is to support structured ecological analysis of interaction networks.
Users can explore the network, geographic context, and raw records, with filters for arthropod group, arthropod taxon, developmental stage, activity, plant species, and host plant phenology. The dataset is generated through standardized protocols and careful documentation by knowledgeable participants, and it is intended for rigorous ecological analysis and interpretation. Readers are encouraged to review the EwA Buggy protocols for methodological context.
